Getting Here — Fly In or Drive

• Colorado Springs Airport (COS) — 1 hour to Canon City via US-50 West. Fly into COS and you're rafting the Royal Gorge in under an hour. This is the closest major airport.
• Denver International Airport (DEN) — 2 hours to Canon City via I-25 South to US-50 West.
• From Colorado Springs (city) — 50 minutes west on US-50.

The Itinerary

7:30am — Depart Your Origin City

Leave by 7:30am from Colorado Springs or Pueblo to arrive in Canon City by 8:15–8:30am — plenty of time to check in for a morning rafting trip. Denver visitors should aim for a 6:30am departure to arrive comfortably by 8:30am.

8:30am — Check In for Morning Rafting

Royal Gorge Rafting runs morning half-day trips launching around 8:30–9:00am. Check in at least 30 minutes before your trip departure. All gear — wetsuits, helmets, personal flotation devices — is provided. The half-day Royal Gorge Classic trip covers the most dramatic section of the gorge and runs approximately 3–4 hours including shuttle.

2:00pm — Zipline Tours

Royal Gorge Zipline Tours runs their Classic course in approximately 2 hours. The course includes multiple zip lines with the gorge suspended below you — the longest reaches over 1,300 feet above the Arkansas River at speeds up to 50 mph. Book the afternoon slot to avoid any overlap with your morning rafting schedule. The Classic course is open to ages 7+ and weights 70–250 lbs.

5:00pm — Optional: Skyline Drive or Downtown Explore

With an hour to spare before dinner, drive the free 2.5-mile Skyline Drive ridge road above Canon City for 360-degree views of the gorge, the Arkansas River valley, and the Wet Mountains. It's 10 minutes from downtown, free, and takes about 20 minutes to drive. Then head downtown to clean up and explore Historic Downtown Canon City.
